Jivo Utune, an interesting FM transmitter for your iPhone

FM transmitter is one application that has had varying responses from the proud owners of the Apple iPhone. Some ladies find it weird and some think is just fine and others wonder why at all we need something like this? But still there is a good number of women that think its cool and worth buying and using.

I would be lying if I don’t point out that I was also a bit sceptical before using Jivo’s FM Transmitter. I am happy listening to songs on my iPhone using my ear plugs only. And I didn’t think it was worth a buy.

What this product actually does is that you can attach your iPhone to it and then relay the songs to your car stereo, like the Sony MEX-BT5100. You attach it to the ear phone jack of your iPhone and then you can pick any frequency and there you go. The songs played on your iPhone can be heard through any radio tuned to that particular frequency. And it’s fun, to tell you honestly.

As for this particular product, it has an LCD display that shows you things like battery status (?), FM frequency (must), temperature (why), music icons, etc. Sometimes the screen does appear a bit congested.

You can preset ten stations on it and that too in the increments of 0.1MHz. The signal strength it offers is just fine, not very good. You must be wondering why the battery and it does seem like a bit odd but good thing is it can charge your iPod, if you attach it to that. This feature still feels like a bit extra and unnecessary. And why it has temperature feature, well the manufacturer must have had their reasons.

So, to summarise it all, it’s something that you may want to own. But it’s also something you can do without as well. But if you want it, it’s cheap and not a bad buy.
